An exceptional example of the iconic “ColorLite” neon wall clock produced by the Electric Neon Clock Company of Cleveland, Ohio, circa 1941–1943. The ColorLite model embodied the streamlined optimism and machine-age styling of the early 1940s, combining industrial utility with dramatic illuminated design.
This particular clock retains the hexagonal form that made the model one of the company’s most recognizable productions. The original metal can displays period-correct construction details, including unusual rear perforations and wiring configurations, confirming an authentic vintage housing rather than a reproduction.
Careful restoration is evident in the clean paint finish across the can, dial, and hands, and certain components including the hands or dial clips, may have been sympathetically replaced, a common practice in preserving early neon clocks for continued display.
The neon has been configured in a custom color arrangement. The outer tube shows soft white illumination with subtle grey mercury shadowing at the bends, a patina that develops gradually over decades as mercury interacts with the interior glass surface, confirming genuine age and lending further authenticity to the piece.
